In the summer of 2018, Bethesda officially announced The Elder Scrolls VI, the sequel to the cult fantasy series with millions of fans around the world. After that, it became known that the game was in a state of pre-production, that is, the studio was only working on ideas and preparing for a full-fledged development process.
Now, thanks to a Bethesda employee page at LinkedIn it became known that for three and a half years the studio had not taken up the full development of The Elder Scrolls VI.
Bethesda Game Studios is setting examples for open world games and is currently actively developing Starfield, the studio’s first new universe in 25 years, as well as pre-production on the long-awaited The Elder Scrolls VI.
The fact that TES 6 is still not in active development will hardly be surprising to fans, since Bethesda has directed all its efforts to Starfield.
While The Elder Scrolls VI won’t require the studio to create a universe from scratch, development of the game will take several years, so the release should be expected no earlier than the second half of the decade – no earlier than 2026. Even with the support of Microsoft, the studio simply won’t have time to make such a massive title by 2025.
It remains to be hoped that Starfield will allow us to pass the time until the new part of TES. As for Fallout 5, it’s even worse. In this decade, the game will be released only if its development is transferred to another studio.
