Busy evening for Mélanie Mory, alderman for works, with the presentation of files for the development, rue de Crèvecœur in Antoing, of the former gendarmerie in order to accommodate a youth centre, the transformation of an existing building into a Maison de Village in Péronnes, redevelopment work on rue de la Station and parts of adjacent streets in Antoing, and improvement work on rue Paillard and rue de Vezonchaux in Maubray.
During the merger of the police services, the gendarmerie brigade of Antoing disappeared. The buildings were acquired by the City. After a housing project, the development of the premises had been envisaged in order to accommodate the Maison des jeunes d’Antoing. In the meantime, the teenagers occupied the old Lenne hardware store, the rent for which was particularly high (see below).
At first, the transformation of the gendarmerie was carried out by the municipal workforce, but it was necessary to give up given the scale of the work. A specification has been drawn up. A negotiated procedure will be launched “The work includes the demolition of partitions, chimneys, and interior joinery, the modification of bays, the carrying out of drainage works, the reinforcement of load-bearing structures, the installation of a PMR lift allowing access to the ground floor floor, insulation of exterior walls and roof, implementation of coatings, partitions, false ceilings, painting work, installation of sanitary facilities, electrical and system installation of heating” explained Ms. Mory.
€22,000 per year
This work will be financed with equity and via the “Ureba Exceptional 2021” call for projects (insulation). They will follow on from the work already carried out on the roof and exterior joinery. Estimate: €565,000 including VAT. Turnaround time is 130 business days.
“Here, we pierce the abscess. We will get things done” a dit le bourgmestre Bernard Bauwens. “As much on certain files you are super-efficient. Here, it is the opposite unfortunately. We have been renting the Lenne building for 11 years at the rate of 22,000€ per year. There, you have completely messed up. Now, we have a building which, ultimately, will cost us a bridge” commented Samuel Vincent (UCA). “With this rental, we lost €250,000! We don’t understand your management for 12 years! It’s shameful. Nevertheless, we will vote for this development project” added Jean-Bernard Vivier (GO). The item was voted on unanimously.
