Developing a smart thermometer that works without battery or charging

The French company “Barracuda” for health technology, revealed a new smart thermometer that works without battery or electric charging, during its participation in the CES 2022 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.

The “BCool” scale was strongly present in the exhibition and drew the attention of visitors, as unlike other modern mercury-free devices, it does not contain a battery, but rather works by “vibrating”.

The company revealed that the device contains an integrated supercapacitor, an electronic device that can temporarily hold a charge, meaning that the meter only has to be “shake” to turn it on, as some of the vibrations will provide enough energy for a one-time temperature reading.

The French company said during its presentation of the new scale that it took into account the user who can easily charge the battery or replace it, noting that it is always ready to work, which is vital and necessary at a time when measuring temperatures is a daily routine required for some as part of the safety precautions for the emerging Corona virus.

She added that there is an option to use the device as a touch thermometer or without, which requires only pressing the device button and slowly passing the infrared sensor in front of the forehead, without the need for any actual contact with the skin, explaining that this feature is ideal if the user wants, for example. Check the temperature of a sleeping infant without disturbing him.

The company “Barracuda” claimed that the sensors of the device are designed to work at high speed and provide readings with unprecedented accuracy, and the “BCool” device can also connect via Bluetooth to an application for the device, where the temperature readings will be automatically synchronized with the application, so that it can easily track temperature changes over time. time, without having to take notes manually.

The company stated that it is also possible to set up special accounts on the application for each family member to track and record temperatures over time, as well as notes regarding other things, such as physical symptoms and drugs used, noting that users can send this information to their doctor via e-mail. Note that the application is available for the “Android” and “iOS” operating systems.

It is worth noting that the “BCool” device is made of recycled plastic, and it is water-resistant, which makes it easy to clean, and it does not contain mercury, a highly toxic substance that is harmful to human health when directly exposed to it. The device was awarded a special “Honor Award” With the innovations on display, its price is expected to reach $79.
