Heavy rains have occurred in the northeast of the United States, including New York, resulting in casualties and flooding of houses and roads.
A state of emergency has been declared in some areas, but rescue work is not carried out properly due to the sudden surge of water, and it is difficult to determine the extent of the damage.

In the pouring heavy rain, the road becomes a sea of water, and the vehicle is at risk as if it might be washed away at any moment.
Up to 30 cm of knee-high rain fell in the northeast of the United States, including New York, New Hampshire and Vermont.
Dozens of houses were damaged and roads were submerged in water.

In New York’s Hudson Valley, a resident drowned while trying to leave his home.
Rescue work is not carried out properly due to the sudden surge of water, and it is difficult to determine the extent of the damage.
The state of Vermont said the heavy rains brought flooding similar to the infamous storm ‘Irene’ in 2011.
States of emergency were declared in New York, New Hampshire and Vermont, the worst-affected states.

Aircraft operations are also disrupted, with more than 5,000 flights canceled so far due to bad weather.
The Bureau of Meteorology has warned that flooding is likely in parts of Quebec, Canada, as a huge storm moves north.
