Violent forest fires are raging in the two Canadian provinces of British Columbia and Northwest Territories as well as in the state of Washington in the north-west of the USA. The town of Yellowknife in northern Canada had to be evacuated. A state of emergency has been declared in British Columbia.
The wildfire comes ominously close to homes in the Okanagan community of West Kelowna, British Columbia.

Canada is currently experiencing the worst forest fires in its history. More than a thousand fires are raging at the same time, the majority is out of control. Since the beginning of the year, an area of 137,000 square kilometers has been affected; that is more than the area of Greece. Around 168,000 Canadians have had to leave their homes this year; 4 people died.
