Deutsche Bahn suspends strike following successful court mediation

Negotiations to stop the strike were hopeless, and Deutsche Bahn (DB) resorted to legal action, which was successful.

(Voice of Deutsche Welle Chinese Network) The German Railway Transport Union (EVG) originally planned to carry out a 50-hour strike starting this Sunday. News came late Saturday that it had reached an agreement with Deutsche Bahn (DB) to suspend the strike.

The strike was supposed to bring long-distance rail passenger traffic to a standstill on Monday and Tuesday.Deutsche Welle previously reported that only 19% of Germans expressed support for the long-term strike plan when interviewed.

Deutsche Bahn (DB) stated that following the suspension of the strike is now reached, the staff schedule of regarding 50,000 trains must be arranged as soon as possible. The specific train schedule will be announced on Sunday followingnoon.

However, the German Railway Transport Union emphasized that only the strike of Deutsche Bahn has been suspended, and other railway transport companies may still hold strikes.
