The Tigers signed him to a five-year, $77 million deal last offseason, and he has been training at a facility near his home in Miami. He threw a 35-pitch bullpen on Friday. Hinch said the plan is for Rodriguez to report to the Tigers’ training facility in Lakeland on Sunday.

The plan to restart E-Rod’s activities will be a bullpen session on Monday preparing him for game action, following which he should make a start in lower Class A, prior to his transition to the Triple A affiliate where he is expected to make one or two starts before returning to the majors, so AJ Hinch said.

The Venezuelan hasn’t pitched for the team since May 18 and has been on the restricted list since June 13, before presenting personal problems Rodríguez was on the injured list with a fractured rib cage.
