The NBA has these things. The Pistons, following a disastrous streak of seven consecutive losses (10 on the road), visited the Nuggets who were recovering their two stars for the cause: Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray. On paper it seemed like a sure win for Denver, but the parquet took it upon themselves to show that nothing is written in this league. Those from Michigan, once morest all odds, gave the surprise to achieve the victory by 108-110.
Dwane Casey’s boys didn’t win by chance, but following doing a great job. For three quarters they remained involved in an even match and in the last one they gave the necessary push to end up winning. With less than five minutes left in the game, Detroit led by as many as 10 points. Denver reacted, but it was insufficient to come back. Aaron Gordon, following an offensive rebound, was able to send the game to overtime, but his shot did not go in and time ran out.
“I think you have to get a win when you find yourself in a situation like that. As much as you want to play young first and second year guys a lot of big minutes, you still have to get a win to validate what you’re talking regarding, preaching and building,” says the head coach of the Pistons.
Sin Cade Cunningham, for now indefinite leave, Detroit’s best player was Bojan Bogdanovic, who went up to 22 points. Already from the bench, Alec Burks also had an outstanding performance with 21 points, and Kevin Knox, who managed up to 17 points.
31 for Jokic
After the NBA health and safety protocol, Nikola Jokic returned to action to play a fantastic game that only lacked victory. The Serbian genius touched the triple-double by finishing with 31 points, 10 assists and 9 rebounds; yes, he also admitted that he felt different following being stopped for some time. “I was sorry that I hadn’t played for a while, since I didn’t move my body as much as I’m used to being at home for five days,” he says.
Of the rest of the team, Aaron Gordon’s 18 points and Michael Porter Jr.’s 17 stood out. Jamal Murray, who also returned to the slopes following a two-game absence, stayed at 10 points with 3 of 12 shooting from the field .
