The Detroit Pistons overcame a poor start to the game to beat the Cleveland Cavaliers 105-115, snapping a four-game losing streak.
The team led by Dwane Casey started with a negative run of 15-0; he cut distances before reaching the halfway point of the clash (55-49); and finally took their first lead in the fourth quarter led by Saddiq Bey (31 points) and rookie Cade Cunningham (19 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists).
Cunningham finished with a triple-double following not scoring in the entire first half. “This is the beauty of the NBA. We didn’t want to start like this, but we knew we had plenty of time to get back into the game. We just had to do those little things,” Saddiq Bey told the outlet. ESPN.
Other highlights of the Pistons were the reserve Frank Jackson with 19 points and a 7 of 10 shot; and Isaiah Stewart had a double-double to his credit (14 points and 12 rebounds).
“I am very, very proud of the way my team recovered. Our second unit got us back into the game. We needed every one of Jackson’s 19 points,” Dwane Casey said.
In the Cavaliers, his point guard Darius Garland led the offense with 24 points, 4 rebounds and 7 assists; seconded by rookie Evan Mobley with 18 points, 9 rebounds, 2 assists and 3 blocks.
“This is a bad loss. It’s going to stick in my mind,” admitted Darius Garland. “We were leading 15-0 and we were still up 11 with a couple of minutes left in the third period, but we stopped defending. They dictated everything in the last quarter, we let them do what they wanted, “he added.
