Detroit formalizes the return of the jersey of the Grant Hill years

“To Pistons fans around the world, we heard you, and this is for you. The “Teal” jerseys represent a “colorful” period in Pistons and NBA basketball history. We’re excited to reintroduce it for a new generation of basketball fans, and we can’t wait to see this version of Detroit Basketball dress up with it.”

It’s by the voice of Mike Zavodsky, head of the franchise’s business department, and the publication of a video on the networks that Detroit has formalized the return of the “Horse” jersey. This one had been worn by the Pistons from 1996 to 2001, a “duck blue” color which took up that of the Detroit Vipers jersey in the NHL.

It is distinguished by the presence of a black horse with a flamboyant mane and two exhaust pipes also releasing flames, symbols of power and therefore in reference to “Motor City”. If it had not been unanimous at the time, the jersey had made it possible to make the transition between the era of the “Bad Boys” and the less sulphurous image of a Grant Hill, destined to take over the torch until the wounds got the better of him.

The jersey will therefore make its return in “Classic Edition” and will be worn by Detroit around ten times during the season. The outfits were officially presented on Monday during a launch party at the Renaissance Center in the presence of Jerry Stackhouse, another trigger at the time.
