This year, the city of Detroit will be the theme of the famous house and techno compilation DJ-Kicks from the German label !K7 Records. On occasion, they choose Theo Parrish as curator, the latter being himself a native of Detroit and representative of his scene. Title DJ-Kicks : Detroit Forwardthe compilation will include 19 tracks selected on the theme of “present and future of Detroit music” including the track “Real Deal” by Theo Parrish and Duminie DePorres. The final mix was entrusted to Theo, who was also in charge of the graphic direction of the cover of the project – which will be released on October 29th.
He explains : ” Detroit creates but rarely imitates. We see a lot of people from other places doing that with what we create. No need to follow. Understand well. In the Great Lakes, there is always more below the surface – more than seems to penetrate the top layer of attention and recognition. What regarding those who defy tradition? Those who circumvent the inaccurate definitions often given from the outside? Here is proof. Enjoy. »
