Determined to defeat India in the big match of the Asia Cup: Babar Azam

The national cricket team captain Babar Azam has said that following starting their campaign with a resounding victory once morest Nepal yesterday, they are determined for the big Asia Cup match once morest arch-rivals India.

According to the foreign news agency ‘Reuters’, Babar Azam vowed to continue the team’s excellent performance once morest the inexperienced team Nepal in the Asia Cup and said that he is ready to compete with India.

In the first match of the Asia Cup played in Multan, Babar Azam scored 151 and Iftikhar Ahmed made an unbeaten 109 to take Pakistan to 342 for 6 in the allotted 50 overs.

The co-hosts of the tournament easily defeated Asia Cup debutants Nepal by dismissing them for 104 runs in 23.4 overs.

Babar Azam, who was adjudged the player of the match for his 19th ODI century, said the game was a good preparation for the match once morest India as it made him determined.

Babar Azam said that India and Pakistan always play with more intensity, we want to give 100 percent in every match, hope to do the same there.

Babar is the top-ranked batsman in ODI cricket and is a determined right-hander who proved it with his brilliant batting.

Both Pakistan’s openers were dismissed early with Babar Azam getting off to a winning start along with Mohammad Rizwan before Iftikhar Ahmed joined.

Babar Azam took 72 balls to score 50 runs but scored a century off 109 balls. Later he batted in T20 fashion and scored 51 runs off the next 22 balls.

“When I went, the ball wasn’t coming in properly, so I was trying to build an innings with Rizwan,” explained Babar Azam.

“Iftikhar Ahmed also played a good innings and when he came in, I asked him to play his neutral game and he was calm following hitting two or three fours,” he said.

It may be noted that the national team will now fly to Pali to face the Indian team as India refused to travel to Pakistan due to strained political relations.
