The sound of the voice reveals a lot regarding a person – if you take artificial intelligence (AI) into account, even their medical history. AI can now use machine learning to identify people in a depressed mood quite reliably; the tone of their speech indicates their psychological state.
But AI has now become much more sensitive. Researchers can use it telltale voice patterns discover that may indicate a range of physical illnesses. Alzheimer’s, for example, Parkinson’s disease or Covid infections. Now even ten seconds of text spoken into a smartphone can be used to detect type 2 diabetes with some degree of reliability.
