Diabetes is one of the most common chronic diseases around the world. It occurs when the pancreas stops secreting the hormone insulin, which leads to an imbalance in blood sugar levels.
Some people wonder regarding the possibility of detecting diabetes, without the need for tests and analyzes, such as measuring blood sugar.

Can diabetes be detected without analysis?
In this regard, Dr. Ahmed Anwar, a consultant in internal medicine, said that type 1 and type 2 diabetes can be diagnosed without analysis, through a set of symptoms.

Anwar added that type 1 and type 2 diabetes share some symptoms, including:
– frequent urination.
Constant thirst.
Extreme hunger.
– Dry mouth.
Fatigue.
Blurred vision.
Slow wound healing.
The internal medicine consultant explained that the effect of diabetes on weight varies from one patient to another according to the type, noting that the first type causes weight loss, while thinness is a symptom of the second type.

He stressed that type 2 diabetes negatively affects the health of the skin, as it leads to darkening of the skin folds, such as around the neck and under the armpits, as well as a feeling of itching in the thighs and vagina.
He pointed out that nausea may be an indicator of type 1 diabetes, because the body’s reliance on fats as an energy source causes a rise in ketones in the blood, and then a constant feeling of vomiting.
Anwar said that the recurrence of infection may indicate diabetes, because high blood sugar weakens the immune system, which makes the body less able to fight viruses, bacteria and fungi.
