Details of the transfer of Adrien Hunou (Rennes) to Minnesota United

Still cloistered on the bench for Rennes’ victory at Angers last weekend (3-0), Adrien Hunou (27) will not remain inactive for long. The Breton striker is packing his bags to cross the Atlantic (as announced on the L’Équipe website on April 18). The Rennais has officially committed to Minnesota United. Hunou will be considered a “DP” (Designated Player), with a salary of 1.6 million euros per season. He signed a three-year contract, with an additional year optional.

The Minneapolis franchise had been tracking the Rennes striker for a few weeks, who has been regularly squatting on the bench since 2021. The decision took a long time to make among Breton decision-makers when the former U20 international was determined to try the American adventure. Hunou noted the recruitment from Rennes last summer with the arrivals of Terrier, Doku and Guirassy (nearly 60 ME between them with the bonuses) which left him hardly any room. He still made twenty matches for four goals in L1 with Julien Stéphan then Bruno Genesio. He also participated in the Champions League campaign with the Breton club once morest Krasnodar, twice, and Chelsea. Too little for this luxury joker which therefore had a good rating in the United States.
