The legal representative of the Ortega family, Ninoska Silva, offered the details of Kalinina’s murder.

He mentioned that the official letter of authorization to remove the remains of the journalist was issued by the Homicide Investigations Division of the Scientific, Penal and Criminal Investigations Corps on March 9, that is, 11 days following the discovery of her bones in the garden of his living place.

Kalinina Ortega was missing for more than five years. She was last seen on September 21, 2016, when she was 76 years old. On that occasion, the journalist visited her sister, Nadesta de Ella, in La California, Sucre municipality, Miranda state.

“Kalinina was displaced in her own home”

The lawyer told unpunished crimes that before her disappearance, Kalinina Ortega received threats from people who wanted to take over her home.

“She told her sister that she was receiving threats from a group of people who wanted to take over the house. She had already been moved from the second floor, and her things were moved to the ground floor of the residence. Kalinina was sleeping in the dining room of the house”, said the lawyer.

According to the information, the communicator wanted to create a foundation for people with addictions and her house would be the headquarters.

By then he was friendly with a group of supposed social activists, the number of members grew gradually and he took over spaces in the residence.

“Kalinina was practically displaced in her own home,” Silva said.

She added that on several occasions Kalinina Ortega expressed her disagreement with these people and that her brothers were aware of the situation.

“Their idea of ​​social work was moving to other interests that were not particular, but collective: they wanted to keep the house,” said the lawyer.

She added that she was murdered on September 21, 2016, following visiting her sister.

“I always knew the body was buried there. But the police at the time ignored the family’s requests. They did not do a good search of the house,” Silva said.

Igor Ortega, the journalist’s brother, explained that the disappearance was reported a month later by Jersey Dávila, a woman posing as a lawyer and friend of Kalinina. Until the day of the discovery, Dávila kept the identity card of the deceased and the keys to her home.

The remains of the journalist will be buried next week.
