Numerous surprises witnessed the first session of the trial of the five defendants in the case of Basant Khaled, a victim of electronic extortion in Gharbia Governorate. The session, which lasted only 30 minutes, was held at the Tanta Criminal Court, amid strict security measures inside and outside the courtroom.
The defendants’ defense blamed the victim’s family for the lack of supervision and follow-up, but Basant’s defense objected to that accusation and met it with great emotion and requested that it be recorded in the session’s record.
As for Basant’s defense, he demanded temporary civil compensation of 501 thousand pounds and demanded that the registration and description in the case be amended to infringement instead of indecent assault, especially that the forensic report proved that she had been infringed by the defendants, and at the end of the session the court decided to postpone the case to the March 8 session to implement the defense requests.
