Apple’s ‘3 days a week work system’ will be implemented in earnest next month. It is an order to return to the office, which has been delayed several times due to the re-spread of COVID-19 and the backlash of employees.

According to Bloomberg News and CNBC on the 15th (local time), Apple employees must come to the office every Tuesday and Thursday, and on the days determined by each team. Currently, Apple employees work in the office two days a week.

According to foreign media reports, Apple announced on the same day that its employees had to go to the office three days a week from September 5th. On Tuesdays and Thursdays of the week, it was compulsory to go to the office, and on the other day, individual teams were allowed to set the day of the week.

This method will be implemented at the Santa Clara County headquarters in California first, and then will be expanded to the rest of the offices.

Currently, Apple employees work in the office two days a week. Previously, Apple started office work 1 day a week on April 11, and extended it to 2 days a week from May 2 and 3 days a week from May 23. However, in May, when the trend of re-spreading COVID-19 became clear, Apple postponed the extension of the number of working days.

Some Apple employees also resigned in protest once morest the three-day workweek. A star executive in charge of artificial intelligence (AI) at Apple has also resigned.

Earlier this month, Apple also repealed a policy that mandated wearing a mask in public office spaces. In June, the first developer conference since 2019 was held face-to-face on campus.

“This is a sign that Apple is getting closer to normal operation,” Bloomberg said.

However, as telecommuting has become a daily routine for the past two years, it is known that there are many outbreaks of return to the office among employees.
