Despite the drought, farmers are blocked by the state from mowing certain hay

While the harvest of the first hay is in full swing, other fodder is not regarding to be razed. Since 1993, each farmer must allocate 7% of his estate to the promotion of biodiversity. In exchange, the Confederation provides land professionals with a contribution – ranging from 450 to 1080 francs per hectare depending on the altitude – in the form of direct payments (OPD). But to receive this aid, farmers must submit to a certain number of rules which can sometimes be restrictive.
