The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 might retain its visible space between the two parts of the device when closed.

The case seemed settled. 2023 was supposed to be the year of the switch to the teardrop hinge on Samsung’s folding smartphones. This type of hinge has the advantage of not leaving a gap when the phone is closed, but also of making the crease less visible once it is open.
According to a video published by the site Slashleaks, renowned for its curation of tech leaks, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 would not have the right to a teardrop hinge. This is particularly noticeable in the image below where we see the phone closed, with what appears to be a slight gap between the two parts of the smartphone.

The hinge seems to be exactly the same as the previous year, we find a very similar design. If these images are indeed a Galaxy Z Flip 5, then that would mean that Samsung has not passed the milestone of the teardrop hinge on the latest model. Too bad especially that the Z Flip 5 is expected to undergo a significant price increase of 90 euros.

It would therefore adopt an asymmetrical design with a screen that takes the form of a step at the level of the photo modules. In the video, we notice two models, one with a white color and the other black. It is clear that the somewhat curious shape of the external screen is much more visible on the white model.
