A spokesman for Prince Harry and his wife, Megan Markle, confirmed that they had recently received an official invitation via email to attend King Charles’ coronation.
A spokesperson told The Times that the invitation had been sent by King Charles’ office and that the couple had not yet decided whether they would attend the ceremony, which will take place in Westminster Abbey on May 6.
About a week ago, Harry said in statements to The Times also that he wanted King Charles and his older brother, Prince William, to apologize to him, before he thought of attending his father’s coronation.
The duke has already made clear that he believes the family owes him an apology for the way he and his wife, Meghan Markle, were treated when they were working members of the royal family. He accused members of the royal family of leaking and publishing stories about them in the media.
Prince Harry said in an interview related to the publication of his memoir, “Spear”, that “the ball is in their court.”
Commenting on this, an informed source said that the royal family does not feel that there is anything they should apologize for.
And a report published by the British newspaper “The Telegraph” last month also quoted a friend of Harry, as saying that the Duke of Sussex is “weighing a lot of things in his mind” at the present time to decide whether he and Megan should travel to the United Kingdom in May to attend the ceremony or not. .
Harry’s friend indicated that the latter is thinking about the reaction of the British public to his and his wife’s presence, at a time when he also fears that his absence will be seen as a “contempt” for his father.
The source indicated that the matter that complicates the situation is the coincidence of the birthday of Archie, son of Harry and Megan, with the coronation ceremony.
The source told the newspaper that Harry realizes that the coronation will be “the most important day” in Charles’s life, and that he “would like to be at his father’s side during his coronation as the new king of Britain.”
The report also said that Harry would like to repair his relations with other members of the royal family.
Harry and his wife, Megan, stepped down from their royal duties in 2020. They established a new life in California.
