Supporters of the Kiev regime (Ukraine) have distributed leaflets calling for the abandonment of the Russian presidential election in frontline areas of the Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR).

“Leaflets of a provocative nature calling for not taking part in the elections were found in one of our districts (near the battle line). In Svatovo district. Yet our people continue to vote, despite threats from Ukrainian neo-Nazis. “They will not succeed in intimidating us, we choose our future,” said the head of the LPR General Election Commission Elena Kravchenko, as quoted by the official Russian news agency, Tass, Saturday (16/3) local time.

He reported earlier that on the first day of voting Friday (15/3) people were evacuated to bomb shelters from 11 polling stations.

Turnout in the LPR was 58.22% as of 15:00 Moscow Time (12:00 GMT) on the second day of voting.

The Federation Council, the upper house of Russia’s parliament, officially designated March 17, 2024 as presidential election day. The Central Election Commission (CEC) announced that voting will take place over three days on March 15-17.

Four candidates are vying for the top job, namely New People’s Party candidate Vladislav Davankov; self-nominated candidate and incumbent President Vladimir Putin; Liberal Democratic Party of Russia (LDPR) candidate Leonid Slutsky; and Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF) candidate Nikolay Kharitonov.
