At the exhibition, nearly 60 fashion works including Ao Dai designs bearing the hallmarks of designer Thuy Nguyen’s fashion career, including designs that have never been performed will be introduced. Along with ao dai, the exhibition also displays unique designs of embroidery, lace, brocade or brocade motifs; artifacts and fashion accessories in Thuy Nguyen’s personal collection.
Normal dream clarify the personal creative views of designer Thuy Nguyen, which are reproduced through elaborately designed and dramatic scenes; to honor the dynamism and creativity of contemporary Vietnamese fashion in the space of integration between Vietnam and the world.
Inspired by the song Pity, Normal dream is an exhibition that gathers more than 100 artifacts, including 60 costumes. The exhibition richly and clearly presents the diversity of fashion collections and the inspirations that shape them. The designs revolve around personal stories such as motherhood, homeland, spirituality and nature. Besides, we can also come across Vietnamese proverbs, folk songs, fairy tales, legends or modern art in the exhibition space and in Thuy’s design motifs, reflecting Thuy Nguyen’s affection and attachment to traditional Vietnamese culture.
“I do exhibitions in the capital of Hanoi, I am also a child of Hanoi. Audiences come and see different fashion, different fashion approaches, fashion is not just clothes, runway shows. . regarding a traditional but also very modern Vietnam,” shared Thuy Nguyen.

Designer Thuy Nguyen graduated from Vietnam University of Fine Arts and obtained a master’s degree from the National Academy of Visual Arts and Architecture (Ukraine) in Kiev. What makes her successful are her feminine and voluptuous designs; creative use of colors or fabrics to highlight the personality of contemporary Vietnamese women. She always sees a consistency in moving towards traditional Vietnamese culture as collections are often inspired by ancient fabrics, fine arts, ceramics, paintings by 20th century artists coming from Vietnam. Indochina Fine Arts School and Ao Dai – a symbol of Vietnamese culture – or other traditional accessories.
