The media office of the National Research University (Moscow Aviation Institute) announced that work is underway to design a drone helicopter to operate in the orbit of Venus and land on its surface, according to “Novosti.”

According to the designer of the drone, graduate student engineer Alexei Shermet, this helicopter will be able to land on Venus and move on its surface.

It will also be able to take high-quality images of the surface of Venus, as well as draw maps of its terrain for later study and analysis of its geological characteristics. The helicopter will also be equipped with devices to measure temperature, pressure and other atmospheric indicators in order to study the gases in the atmosphere and the climatic conditions of the planet.

It should be noted that Russia plans to send the “Venera D” station to Venus following 2030 to complete the studies conducted by the Soviet and American stations during the period from the 1960s to the 1990s.
