This time, he had the brilliant idea of taking the iconic background image of macOS Big Sur and to remake it in the style of the impressionist painter Vincent Willem van Goghmore specifically recreating the famous painting “The Starry Night” (“Starry Night”).
On his blog, the designer explained that he generated the image from a artificial intelligence:
I generated this image some time ago using the AI Midjourney image generator. I ran several commands a few dozen times using various variations of the phrase “Big Sur” and “Starry Night” until I got to an image I wanted and remastered it further to refine the result. From there, I started using upscaling ML, sharpening, and other edits to produce the final product.
He says that the intention was not to transform it into a wallpaper, but following publishing the generated image on a platform, the extremely positive feedback encouraged him.
Thus, the wallpaper he named Big Starry Sur It’s now available to download for Mac, iPad, and iPhone — just tap/click the links, save the image, and apply it to your device as your background.
