A few days following the death of its owner, the home of fashion designer Paco Rabanne in the province of Brittany, western France, was burglarized last Sunday night, according to a statement by the gendarmerie in the town of Bloodamezzo, yesterday. The French designer, who was born in Spain, is famous for creating clothes made of foil. For half a century, he was a well-known face in the cultural community and the cafes of the “Saint-Germain” neighborhood through his bold opinions.
The thieves slipped in by breaking a window on the ground floor. Marguerite Lamour, the town’s mayor, explained that they thought there were valuables in the house. “This theft is a dishonorable act,” she told AFP. Even if Raban was not a famous person, it is very shocking to go and steal a person who died recently.
Raban died at the age of 88, last Friday, in this house where the robbery took place. It overlooks the ocean in the town of no more than 6,000 people. And he had only close neighbors, but they lived in far apart houses.
