The Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana will present its traditional catwalk as part of Colombiamoda 2024, a space for emerging talent and sustainable fashion. The catwalk will take place on Tuesday, July 23, at 4:30 pm at Plaza Mayor Medellín, where innovative and avant-garde proposals from the institution’s students and graduates will be featured.

In this edition, the Design + Talent Catwalk will highlight the work of seven brands, three of them led by graduates and five created by students regarding to graduate from UPB. These proposals, which reflect the vision and talent of the new generations of designers, will explore and redefine the concept of fashion from contemporary and sustainable perspectives, covering a wide range of styles ranging from casual to ceremonial.

Among the proposals are denim clothing with Zab Ala, where they transform denim textile waste into artisanal garments and The ODD, which fuses conceptual design with urban aesthetics. Contemporary and disruptive tailoring will also be present with the brands Casanova, wearing made-to-measure luxury and JAS, highlighting beauty from the essence of being. On the other hand, there will be sportswear with Henka, who celebrate the adventure and freedom of each individual; the Rebel Divine brand will present a new standard of formal clothing that appreciates the interaction between the classic and the disruptive and, finally, the Boró brand, where the skin becomes the textile through transparencies.

The UPB Faculty of Costume Design has played a fundamental role in the development of these projects, providing students with academic support that includes training in entrepreneurship, conceptualization of collections and business management. This approach enhances the creativity of emerging designers and also prepares them to face the challenges of today’s demanding market.

For UPB, the Design + Talent Catwalk is a stage that promotes innovation and art in fashion, as well as a crucial place for the integration of new talents in the industry. Since its inception, it has been an environment where creativity merges with business practice, fostering both the professional growth of participants and their national and international visibility.

Rafael Bernal, director of the catwalk and professor at the Faculty of Costume Design at the Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana, highlights the importance of Colombiamoda as a catalyst for success for young designers. “This event, in addition to promoting the personal brands of the participants, also strengthens UPB’s tradition as a leader in the training of professionals in costume design.”

Since its inception, the catwalk has been a focus of achievement and projection for emerging designers. It has served as a springboard for the careers of many Colombian talents, promoting the expansion of their personal brands and strengthening the prestige of the UPB as a leader in the training of professionals in costume design.

Participation in Colombiamoda 2024 represents a significant milestone for UPB students and graduates, marking a step forward in their personal development as professionals in the fashion industry. Each year, the catwalk celebrates emerging talent, while also highlighting UPB’s ongoing commitment to academic excellence and innovation in fashion design.
