Desalination of seawater, mining projects, solar energy… Here are the projects planned for 2023 in the phosphate sector

The rapport from Parliamentary Committee for Infrastructure, Energy, Mining and the Environment on the sectoral budgets of the Ministry of Equipment and Water, the Ministry of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development and the Ministry of Transport and Logistics, devotes an axis achievements and projects in the phosphate sector. This report is produced each year as part of the discussion of the PLF and in the light of exchanges within the committee.

In between 2021 et 2022there was the construction of a thermal power plant with a capacity of 130 megawatts, to which a budget of 1.16 billion dirhams (MMDH) has been allocated. The report also cites the achievement ofa new seawater treatment plant an additional capacity of 42,000 m³/h at Jorf Lasfar, which required an investment of 575 million dirhams (MDH).

Flagship projects

here are the projects planned for 2023 in the phosphate sector and the investment amounts that will be allocated to them:

– Benguerir laundry project (more than 3.86 billion dirhams);

– M’Zinda mine project (751 MDH);

– Benguerir mine project (274 MDH);

– production program of 3 million tons of fertilizer in Jorf Lasfar (more than 13.53 billion dirhams);

– program of the new TSP fertilizer center (more than 6.68 billion dirhams);

– infrastructure renewal project dedicated to the fusion and filtration of solid sulfur in Jorf Lasfar (more than 1.83 billion dirhams);

– air conditioning project for NPK fertilizer lines (200 MDH);

– PS4 sulfuric acid unit project (more than 1.26 billion dirhams);

– cadmium removal unit from phosphoric acid in Jorf Lasfar (274 MDH);

– washing and drying unit in Boukraa (more than 1.89 billion dirhams);

– second stage of the seawater desalination project in Jorf Lasfar (543 MDH);

– STEP wastewater treatment project in Kasbah Tadla, Fquih Bensaleh, Khouribga, Béni Mellal, Benguerir, Safi and Merssa (more than 1.5 billion dirhams);

– development of solar energy production services with a production capacity of 1.2 gigawatts by 2026 (1.75 billion dirhams);

– emergency plan to deal with the water crisis and guarantee the supply of water to OCP’s industrial sites from Jorf Lasfar and Safi (4.3 billion dirhams).
