Teenager Derek Rosa breaks down when audio is revealed where he says he murdered his mother
Derek’s defense wanted the judge to allow him to return to a juvenile prison to await his trial.
International.- Derek Rosa, the 13-year-old teenager accused of the murder of his mother, Irina García, in the United States, appeared in court once more and there was a moment when he broke down when listening to the audio of his confession.
During the hearing held on Thursday, December 14, in which Derek’s defense sought for the judge to allow him to return to a juvenile prison to await his trial, the prosecution played the audio of the confession.
In the videos of the hearing you can see that the young man looked restless, exchanging notes in a notebook with his lawyer and whispering with her.
It was at the moment when the part of his confession was heard where he details what he did to his mother when he bowed his head and covered his face with his hands. At the hearing it was revealed that she was stabbed 46 times.

Officer: So you went to sleep around 10?
Derek: Yes.
Officer: And then what happened?
Derek: I woke up and went to the kitchen. I grabbed one of the kitchen knives and went to her room and then I…
Officer: Okay, you can say it.
Derek: I killed her.
Officer: Did you kill her? Okay, what kind of knife was she? Know?
Derek: It was a kitchen knife.
The murder of Irina García, 39, occurred in the same room where she rested that night with her barely 14-day-old baby. Derek Rosa was then sleeping but when he woke up he decided to go to the kitchen and take a sharp knife with which he stabbed his mother at least 46 times. The injuries were mainly to the face, chest, back, head and legs.
The statement of the police officer in charge of the investigation moved those present, especially when he showed some photographs of the crime scene. The defendant’s grandmother, the victim’s mother, burst into tears and put her hands to her head.
