Two officials of the Customs Department were killed and two others were injured in an attack by unknown armed men in the southern district of Dera Ismail Khan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. This latest incident of targeting customs officials comes following five other customs officials were killed in the area three days ago. No group has claimed responsibility for the attacks since the first attack on Thursday. Police say they are investigating the attacks.

According to DSP Hafiz Adnan, the bodies and injured personnel were shifted to DHQ Hospital.

According to the police, following the incident, the police and other law enforcement agencies reached the spot, while the dead customs officials were identified as Hasnain and Ziyad.

The security situation in Pakistan’s areas bordering Afghanistan has worsened in recent years. In these attacks, most of the personnel of the security agencies are targeted.

Some of these attacks have been claimed by the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) militant group.

Dera Ismail Khan Deputy Superintendent of Police Muhammad Adnan while talking to the news agency “Reuters” said, “Customs officials were on their duty for checking when unknown persons opened fire.” ‘

He said that two people have been injured in this attack and the area on the busy highway has been cordoned off.

“Three days ago, five officials, including an officer of the customs department, were killed in a firing incident in the same area and the assailants escaped,” he added.

It should be noted that the increase in such attacks has increased the tension between Pakistan and the ruling Taliban of Afghanistan.

Pakistan says that militants are using Afghan soil to launch attacks. The government of Pakistan is asking the Taliban to take action once morest these elements.

Pakistan also carried out an airstrike on Afghan soil last month. The Taliban have refused to allow the use of Afghan territory for militancy, saying that Pakistan’s security issues are its internal affairs.
