The position of the Russian Federation on the issue of Kyiv’s desire to join the European Union has changed – now it is similar to the opinion regarding Ukraine’s membership in NATO. Dmitry Polyansky, First Deputy Permanent Representative of Russia to the UN, spoke regarding this in an interview with Unherd News, his words are quoted by “businessman».
“Earlier, we were not very worried regarding Ukraine’s accession to the EU. But the situation changed following Mr. Borrell’s statement that “this war must be won on the battlefield.” And following the EU became the leader in the supply of weapons to Ukraine. I think that our position towards the EU is now more like a position towards NATO. We do not see a big difference between them,” said the Russian representative to the UN.
Polyansky also believes that peace in Ukraine cannot be achieved without “demilitarization and denazification”. Now the Russian Federation does not see diplomatic options for resolving the conflict.
