The Indonesian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs (Wamenlu) Muhammad Anis Matta called on the international community to sever all forms of economic relations with Israel. This was done to pressure the country to stop its aggression against the Palestinian people.
This was conveyed by Anis as a proposal for joint action to stop genocide in Palestine at the Extraordinary Summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC)-Arab League in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Monday (11/11), as monitored via the YouTube channel of the Indonesian Embassy in Riyadh, Tuesday ( 12/11).
“We call for continuing the severance of economic, trade and investment relations with Israel and companies linked to global Zionism,” Anis said at the summit in Arabic.

To further pressure Israel, the Indonesian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs called on countries, especially member countries of the OIC and the Arab League, to stop all Israeli projects currently underway in their places.
As a substitute for potential loss of income, Anis encouraged OIC member countries and the Arab League, in particular, to strengthen economic activities and increase trade volumes with each other. “Especially in products produced in Arab and Islamic countries,” he said.
Thus, to achieve this, the Indonesian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs emphasized the importance of solidarity between Muslim and Arab communities who empathize with the suffering of their brothers and sisters in Palestine.

They should take a role in supporting the struggle for Palestinian independence and ensure that all channels are open to send humanitarian aid to Gaza.
Anis also encouraged the formation of a global alliance between Global South countries and other countries that support Palestinian independence to achieve this common goal.
“At the same time, we also call for all forms of resistance from Palestinian factions to be seen as a legal right for every oppressed nation and not as an act of terrorism,” said the Indonesian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs.
In addition to the steps above, Anis also called on the international community to increase political and diplomatic pressure on Israel to end the war in Gaza and Lebanon, including by refusing to normalize relations and proposing the country’s expulsion from the UN. (Ant/Z-2)

**Interview with Muhammad Anis Matta, Indonesian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs**
**Editor:** Thank you for joining us today, Deputy Minister Anis Matta. You recently made a significant statement at the Extraordinary Summit of the OIC-Arab League in Riyadh. Can you elaborate on your call for the international community to sever economic ties with Israel?
**Anis Matta:** Thank you for having me. At the summit, I emphasized the urgent need for the international community to take a strong stand against Israel’s actions toward the Palestinian people. Severing economic, trade, and investment relations with Israel is a crucial step to apply pressure and compel the state to halt its aggression and protect the rights of Palestinians.
**Editor:** You mentioned “global Zionism” in your speech. Can you explain how this concept relates to the economic actions you’re advocating?
**Anis Matta:** Global Zionism refers to the networks and entities that support Israel’s policies and actions against Palestinians. By cutting ties with Israeli businesses and those linked to these entities, we can signal that the international community will not tolerate actions that violate human rights and international law.
**Editor:** In addition to severing economic ties, what other steps did you propose to the member countries of the OIC and the Arab League?
**Anis Matta:** I urged member states to halt any ongoing Israeli projects in their territories. It’s vital that we stand united in our actions, not just in words. By collectively isolating Israel on various fronts, we can amplify our message and actions aimed at protecting innocent lives in Palestine.
**Editor:** What do you hope the response will be from other countries following your call to action?
**Anis Matta:** I hope that countries will recognize the urgency of the situation and respond decisively. The ongoing violence is unacceptable, and it’s imperative that the global community stands together in defense of human rights and justice for the Palestinians. Unity is essential for effective change.
**Editor:** Thank you for your insights, Deputy Minister Matta. Your message is clear, and we appreciate you taking the time to share it with us.
**Anis Matta:** Thank you for having me.
