“Blooming Home” celebrates its 15th anniversary: photo competition starts on May 1st

Vienna (OTS) On May 1st, the photo competition of the City of Vienna “Blooming Home” will enter the next round and offer enthusiastic hobby gardeners and plant fans a unique opportunity to present their own green oases – for the 15th time! All Viennese are cordially invited to take part. Overall, prizes are awarded in the following categories: flower box, balcony, terrace, garden, indoor garden, urban gardening and social media.

“In the spring it’s time to say: Vienna is blooming! Under this motto, I invite all Viennese to take part in the ‘Blooming Home’ photo competition with their own green oases and to share their love of nature with us. It is always impressive with what passion the hobby gardeners care for their small and large green oases – whether balcony, terrace, window sill, garden, indoor garden or community garden. For the 15th anniversary, I am all the more looking forward to numerous submissions!” said Deputy Mayor and City Councilor for Women and Housing Kathrin Gaál.

“Blossoming Home” photo competition: All green oases have a chance of winning

Basically, all flower boxes, balconies, terraces, gardens and indoor gardens in Vienna have a chance of winning. In the category “urbanes garteln“ Community gardens, mobile flower beds, flowering inner courtyards and green tree pits are brought in front of the curtain and the “Social Media Award“ selects the best Instagram posts from their own flowery oasis. All Viennese kindergarten and following-school care groups are once once more called upon to submit handicrafts on the topic “My most beautiful flower box”.

The category “indoor garden’ enables all those Viennese who have neither a balcony nor a garden to take part in the competition, but who have nevertheless created a plant jungle at home. The same applies here: the more creative and green the indoor green oasis, the better – regardless of whether vegetables, herbs or flowers are planted there.

Take photos, upload, participate!

And this is how it works: Photograph your own green oasis, upload a photo and take part! All Viennese with a green thumb and a camera can take part in the photo competition. We are looking for the most beautiful photos of private plants – regardless of whether they are flower boxes, balconies, terraces, gardens, indoor gardens or urban gardens (except small gardens). Photos of your own green oasis can be uploaded to the website from May 1st.

Those who are active on social media can also participate via Instagram. Just post a photo with #bluehendeszuhause and #wienbluehtauf, the profile blossominghome Follow us on Instagram and you’re already in the photo competition. Tips and tricks appear regularly on the Facebook page, including from organic gardener Karl Ploberger. Subscribers to the site can look forward to prize draws for Ploberger books and other goodies.
