Deputy Commissioner murder: Action against ‘terrorists’ in Mustang

According to the police, unidentified persons opened fire on the vehicle of the Deputy Commissioner of Panjgur, southern district of Balochistan, in Mastung district on Monday night, killing him and injuring three others.

The CTD Police in Balochistan has said that an operation is being conducted against the saboteurs after last night’s terrorist attack in Mastung.

On Tuesday, CTD Balochistan said in a statement that “two terrorists were killed” in a joint operation by security forces in Mastung.

According to the statement, a search operation is underway in the area and more forces have been called in. “The elimination of terrorists and the restoration of peace will be ensured.”

Naseebullah, an official of Mastung Police Station, told Independent Urdu that Deputy Kushman Panjgur Zakir Baloch was traveling in a car with some people when he was attacked.

According to Naseebullah, the incident of firing by unknown persons took place in Maitam Khad Kocha area of ​​Mastung District, which is D Area i.e. the area under the administration of Levies.

He said that unknown persons fired at the Deputy Commissioner’s vehicle, in which he was seriously injured and died on the way to the hospital.

Three other people in the DC Mustang’s car were also injured in the firing, including the district chairman of the municipal committee, who is the brother of MPA Rahmat Baloch.

The injured were shifted to Nawab Ghosbux Raisani Memorial Hospital for medical treatment.

Mastung Police Station official Naseebullah said that a search operation was conducted in the area after the incident, but no arrests have been made yet.

Mastung district, located south of Balochistan’s capital Quetta, has been the scene of extremism in the past, while law enforcement agencies have conducted several operations in the district in the past.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif strongly condemned the attack on Deputy Commissioner Panjgur’s vehicle in Mastung on Monday.

In a statement issued from the Prime Minister’s House in Islamabad, he expressed deep sorrow over the death of Deputy Commissioner Zakir Baloch.

The Prime Minister directed the concerned authorities to provide all possible medical aid to the injured.

He said that those involved in the attack will be identified and they will be given exemplary punishment.

Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti also condemned the killing of Deputy Commissioner Panjgur and ordered immediate steps to arrest the attackers.
