It is reported that President Yoon Seok-yeol will appoint Lee Won-seok, deputy prosecutor of the Supreme Prosecutors’ Office (53, 27th class of the Judicial Research and Training Institute, photo) as the new government’s first prosecutor-general candidate.

According to the legal community on the 17th, the Prosecutor General’s Recommendation Committee appointed Deputy Director Lee Hwan-seop (54/24 class), Seoul High Prosecutor Kim Hu-gon (57/25 class), and Daejeon High Prosecutor Lee Du-bong (58/25 class) as Prosecutor General on the 16th. selected as a candidate. It was reported that Justice Minister Han Dong-hoon decided to propose to President Yoon on the 18th, among them, as deputy chief of staff.

Deputy Chief Lee is classified as the Yoon Seok-yeol division as a representative special officer in the prosecution. Born in Boseong, Jeollanam-do, he is also a member of the Judicial Research and Training Institute and a minister who is close to President Yoon. When President Yoon served as the Prosecutor General, he served as the head of the planning and coordination department of the Supreme Prosecutor’s Office. Shortly following Minister Han took office, he acted as acting prosecutor general and decided on major tasks such as personnel and organizational restructuring of the prosecution. He does not require parliamentary appointment consent.
