Deputy Chairman Ahmad Sahroni Meets Ivan Sugianto Over Viral Incident Involving High School Students

Jakarta Barks Back: The Shocking Surabaya Incident

Jakarta — There’s a new twist in the Surabaya saga that not even the best stand-up routines could have foreshadowed. Deputy Chairman of Commission III DPR, Ahmad Sahroni, recently met Ivan Sugianto, the man behind an outrageous incident involving high school students barking like dogs. I know, *barking? Really?* Maybe Surabaya is just going through its ‘quirky animal behaviour’ phase? But let’s not put the cart before the dog…or whatever comes first in this tale!

In a recent visit that could only be described as ‘a bad episode of a reality TV show,’ Sahroni praised the Surabaya Police for their quick response. “Thank you to the Surabaya Police Chief who welcomed me…,” he posted on Instagram, which is apparently the new pulpits for our authorities. I mean, who needs press conferences when you can just court the likes on Instagram, right?

When Barking Goes Bad

As reported, Mr. Sugianto was caught red-handed with his hands cuffed and clad in an orange prison jumpsuit that’s less ‘fashion statement’ and more ‘I’m having a rough day.’ Looks like Ivan really took the theme ‘Let’s get weird’ too far, wouldn’t you say? Sahroni expressed hope that this incident serves as a ‘lesson’ for everyone involved, cautioning against feeling “great and proud” for acts that would make even the most stunned animal whisper in embarrassment.

“As parents, we should be more careful,” Sahroni advised, echoing sentiments that any reasonable adult with a modicum of sanity might think of as common sense. You see, his point here isn’t just to guard against barking—it’s a call to arms against all forms of bullying. After all, if your child feels superior enough to get others to bark on command, we might be dealing with a future dictator! Or at the very least, the next viral sensation on social media that everyone’s embarrassed to share.

Parental Guidance: Level Up Your Game

Here’s a lightbulb moment: Sahroni believes it’s vital for parents to keep an eagle eye on their offspring, lest they merge into that forbidden world of ‘rude and unruly.’ I can already hear the soundtrack of social repercussions playing in his mind. He stressed that it’s crucial for kids to greet each other “in a friendly manner,” because nothing says ‘welcome to adulthood’ like a pack of teenagers barking at one another! Traditional rites of passage have clearly taken a bizarre turn.

And get this: Ivan was nabbed at Juanda Airport, on his way to who knows where, presumably to find a quieter locale—perhaps a dog park? But alas, instead of basking in the sun, he found himself ushered into the Special Services Room, likely thanking his stars that it wasn’t an animal sanctuary he was going to instead.

The Bottom Line

It seems the Surabaya episode is the potent reminder that kids need careful supervision and certain behavioral standards. Ah, parenting: the joyful journey of watching your little angels transform into mini tyrants. Sahroni’s call to action is clear; we must be proactive—because, as we’ve seen, the line between friendly antics and outright bizarre behaviour can be shockingly thin. In a world where children strive to outdo each other and bark for attention, it’s up to us the grown-ups to explain that a good story doesn’t always need a canine companion!

Jakarta

Deputy Chairman of Commission III DPR Ahmad Sahroni met Ivan Sugianto, who stands accused in a case that saw him instruct high school students in Surabaya to bark in an alarming display of misconduct. Sahroni expressed his gratitude toward the Surabaya Police for their swift intervention in this incident.

“I extend my thanks to the Surabaya Police Chief for accommodating my visit and allowing me to meet with the suspect. I sincerely appreciate the rapid response from the Surabaya Police regarding this disturbing behavior that went viral and shocked many,” stated Sahroni in an Instagram post on @ahmadsahroni88, on Sunday (17/11/2024).

In the image shared by Sahroni, he is engaged in a one-on-one discussion with Ivan, who is clad in an orange prison jumpsuit and has his hands restrained in handcuffs.

Sahroni emphasized that parents need to exercise greater caution in their own conduct, urging them to model responsible behavior. He implored parents to approach their roles with greater wisdom.

“The message directed to all parents, including myself, is the critical need to observe our children’s behaviors closely to ensure that they interact with others kindly and do not develop a sense of superiority over their peers based on their parents’ standing,” he articulated.

“Often, our children’s actions within social environments can inadvertently lead to insults or bullying directed at others whom they may perceive as weaker, facilitating a culture of bullying that permeates schools. As parents, it’s heartbreaking to witness our children engage in such negative behavior,” he added.

Ivan Sugianto’s arrest took place at approximately 16:00 WIB at Juanda Airport, after which he was escorted to the Special Services Room of the Satreskrim PPA Unit. He is currently in custody.
