Deputy Chairman of Commission III DPR Ahmad Sahroni met Ivan Sugianto, who stands accused in a case that saw him instruct high school students in Surabaya to bark in an alarming display of misconduct. Sahroni expressed his gratitude toward the Surabaya Police for their swift intervention in this incident.
“I extend my thanks to the Surabaya Police Chief for accommodating my visit and allowing me to meet with the suspect. I sincerely appreciate the rapid response from the Surabaya Police regarding this disturbing behavior that went viral and shocked many,” stated Sahroni in an Instagram post on @ahmadsahroni88, on Sunday (17/11/2024).
In the image shared by Sahroni, he is engaged in a one-on-one discussion with Ivan, who is clad in an orange prison jumpsuit and has his hands restrained in handcuffs.
Sahroni emphasized that parents need to exercise greater caution in their own conduct, urging them to model responsible behavior. He implored parents to approach their roles with greater wisdom.
“The message directed to all parents, including myself, is the critical need to observe our children’s behaviors closely to ensure that they interact with others kindly and do not develop a sense of superiority over their peers based on their parents’ standing,” he articulated.
“Often, our children’s actions within social environments can inadvertently lead to insults or bullying directed at others whom they may perceive as weaker, facilitating a culture of bullying that permeates schools. As parents, it’s heartbreaking to witness our children engage in such negative behavior,” he added.
Ivan Sugianto’s arrest took place at approximately 16:00 WIB at Juanda Airport, after which he was escorted to the Special Services Room of the Satreskrim PPA Unit. He is currently in custody.
