Edomex deputies ask to open spaces for artisans in the AIFA Toluca, Mex.- The deputies of the Mexico state unanimously approved a point of agreement to ask the state Ministry of Culture and Tourism to enter into a loan agreement with the company AIFA SA de CV and grant free of charge strategic commercial spaces within the Felipe Angeles International Airport intended for artisans.
The objective is that through the Institute for Research and Promotion of Crafts of the State of Mexico (IIFAEM) they establish a point of sale Casa de las Artesanías del Estado de México (CASART).
Deputy Maria Luisa Mendoza Mondragon (PVEM) indicated that the new airport has 266 premises, of which 58 are already occupied and in the entity there are 24,000 artisans from the 125 municipalities, so it is necessary to provide them with an alternative, since handicrafts represent a synonym of identity.
“The Felipe Ángeles International Airport will be a gateway that detonates economic figures and spills over with job opportunities for the benefit of the people of Mexico. This project includes, among other facilities, airport and passenger services, customs, a cargo terminal, a parcel area, with which that its influx is estimated at a maximum of 100 million passengers a year, a figure that gives the opportunity to view points of sale of 100% Mexican craft products,” said the legislator.
The document indicates that according to National Fund for the Promotion of Crafts, it is estimated that in Mexico there are one million 118 thousand 232 artisans, while 70% of them live in extreme poverty; Regarding the State of Mexico, during 2020 and 2021, there was a significant drop for the sector, of at least 80%, in 13 branches such as: pottery, ceramics, candle making, vegetable fibers, gastronomy artisan, bone, lapidary, quarry, wood, metalwork, goldsmith, jewelry, stationery, cardboard, saddlery, fur, textiles and glass, a fall that directly affects the family livelihood nuclei of these representative groups.
