Household deposits stood at 798.5 billion dirhams, an annual increase of 4.3% with 190.7 billion dirhams held by Moroccans residing abroad (MRE), specifies BAM, adding that deposits from private companies have , for their part, increased by 10.6% to reach 176.3 billion dirhams at the end of June.
The interest rate on 12-month term deposits fell by 11 basis points at the end of June 2022 to 2.34% and that of 6 months fell by 8 basis points to reach 2.02%. For savings accounts, their minimum rate of remuneration was set at 1.24% for the second half of 2022, an increase of 19 basis points compared to the previous half, notes the Central Bank.
