Deportivo Cali: Jorge Luis Pinto could be reinforced with goalkeeper José Luis Chunga for 2023 | Colombian Soccer | Betplay League

This Tuesday was presented Jorge Luis Pinto as the new coach of Deportivo Cali. The coach took on this challenge thinking regarding what the 2023 season will be like, following a painful semester that ended in the departure of Mayer Candelo. What the experienced Colombian coach will try to do is add the most points in the remainder of Liga II-2022, for something more than honor.

In the midst of the arrival of Pinto, who will lead a Colombian soccer club once more following three years (his last experience was with Millonarios in 2019), names of possible reinforcements have also emerged. One of them is goalkeeper José Luis Chunga, who is currently in the Colombia National Team microcycle in Barranquilla.

Chunga, who plays for Alianza Petrolera, has had an outstanding performance with his team, and this has meant keeping him in the National Team’s plans. The 30-year-old from Barranquilla was even the starting goalkeeper in the June friendly once morest Saudi Arabia, where the tricolor won with a goal by Rafael Santos Borré.

The journalist Carlos ‘Petiso’ Arango, indicated that the Verdiblanco club had already set to work, thinking of new players. “Deportivo Cali is advancing fast in two reinforcements, one of them a goalkeeper, the Pinto project started quickly,” he said on Twitter on Monday.

And it is that in addition to Chunga, another name that has sounded strong to reinforce Deportivo Cali is that of Kevin Londoño, a winger who also currently plays in Alianza. The former Once Caldas player, 28, is another one who has had a good performance in the semester.

However, while some assure that the Caleño club is already thinking regarding reinforcements, President Luis Fernando Mena assured otherwise. In a conversation with the La Banda Deportiva program, he said that “we have not talked regarding names, or Chunga, or the number of names that have been released. We have not sat down to talk regarding names.”
