According to a survey conducted by the French National Association of Advanced Practice Nurses (Anfipa), the establishment of an advanced practice nurse (IPA) in psychiatry and mental health requires the support of both the institution , supervision and peers. This article takes stock of the situation and identifies the obstacles and levers for the deployment of this still young profession.
Introduced by the law to modernize our health system of January 26, 2016, the deployment of advanced practice nurses (IPA) has been effective in France since 2018. This profession has existed for many years in several countries. For the psychiatry and mental health (PSM) mention, the decree only appeared on August 12, 2019, one year following the first decrees governing the studies and practice of IPAs for the first mentions (stabilized chronic pathologies; prevention and common polypathologies in primary care (PCS); oncology and hemato-oncology (OOH); chronic kidney disease, dialysis, kidney transplantation (MRCTDR); emergency medicine). This article follows the initiation of a working group, within the framework of the PSM College of the French National Association of Nurses in Advanced Practice (ANFIPA). We informally collected both difficulties related to IPA implementation and disparities depending on the territories, which allowed us to undertake this work.
