The president of Avianca, Adrian Neuhauser, and the company’s legal vice president left the country this Friday. The airline reported that it is a previously scheduled trip and that businessmen will meet the requirements of the Superintendency of Industry and Commerce (SIC) virtually.
The previous day, the SIC inspected Avianca’s offices in Bogotá to collect information regarding its operations. At the same time, the entity entered Viva’s facilities in Rionegro, Antioquia. The visit had been notified the night before at 7:48 pm, as evidenced by a letter sent by the authority to Avianca.
The SIC is conducting an investigation to determine if Avianca and Viva carried out an integration without having requested authorization from the Civil Aeronautics at the beginning of last year.
The SIC’s administrative inspection visit, which took place on Thursday, was aimed at collect information regarding Avianca operations and of the companies with which it has an economic relationship in the air transport market, “in order to determine compliance with the competition protection regime”.
“In the framework of the visits carried out by the Superintendency of Industry and Commerce, several people from the Avianca team, including its President and CEO, Chief Legal Officer, those responsible for operations, revenue, among others, gave face-to-face or virtual testimony as planned. by law,” said an Avianca statement.
