“The basic framework is in place, we want to finalize it next week,” said Salzburg Mayor-designate Bernhard Auinger (SP) yesterday regarding the distribution of departments within the five-member Salzburg city government.
Last Sunday, Auinger won the runoff election for the mayor’s office once morest the KPÖ-plus candidate Kay-Michael Dankl with 62.5 percent of the vote. In the five-member Salzburg city government, the SPÖ has two representatives, the KPÖ plus, ÖVP and the Greens each have one representative. Mayor Auinger will be responsible for the city’s finances, the municipal administration and the human resources office. He also reserves his agenda for sports, culture, childcare and elementary education.
The second city council seat for the SPÖ remains with Andrea Brandner. She will continue to lead the social department and will also be responsible for the garden department.
The future KPÖ deputy mayor Kay-Michael Dankl will receive a “Construction, Housing and Land Policy” department. The communist will also be responsible for purchasing land for affordable housing, municipal housing, housing services and the municipal real estate company SIG.
The new second deputy mayor Florian Kreibich (ÖVP) will be responsible for the district administrative authority in the future. This includes the agendas for the public order office, the health department and the professional fire department. He also maintains the city’s operations.
The green citizen list city councilor Anna Schiester will ultimately be given the planning department and will therefore be responsible for urban development, transport and the environment.
