The idea of the Departmental PAI is to supply more than 4 thousand doses until November 30.
This weekend, Magdalena began the fifth extended day of national vaccination intensification that will take place until November 30 at 107 points arranged by the Government, through the Directorate of Promotion and Prevention of the Sectional Secretariat of Health. Departmental and its team of the Expanded Immunization Program -PAI-, within the framework of the Health Revolution and Doctor in your House and Hospitals of Change.
For this purpose, the governor, Rafael Martínez, ordered an extensive programming, which has 62 extramural vaccination points and 45 institutional vaccination points, where the demands of the population will be met in the different hospitals and IPS of the Department, with the support of vaccinating teams that will go house to house, identifying the target population to be vaccinated.
The activities began in the 29 municipalities, where the Secretary of Departmental Health, Diana Celedón, had 21 types of biologicals available to reduce the risk of contracting 26 preventable diseases.
“We carried out this fifth national day of Vaccination Intensification despite the difficult weather conditions generated by the wave of rain, to comply with them and guarantee access to health for the population. The PAI teams joined forces and deployed in different areas to guarantee access to immunization, thus reinforcing the commitment to public health and the prevention of communicable diseases,” said the Secretary of Health.
These vaccines are part of the national vaccination scheme: children under six years of age; girls and boys from 9 to 17 years old; pregnant women; women of childbearing age from 10 to 49 years (MEF); population susceptible to yellow fever from 1 to 59 years old, residing in risk municipalities; travelers to national and international risk areas; and boys and girls born between January 1, 2009 to December 31, 2018 in all municipalities of the country. Likewise, the Influenza vaccine will be available.
During the Departmental vaccination intensification day, the aim is to apply 4,823 doses of biological tracers in children under 1 year old, children 1 year old and 5 years old, in addition to the different reinforcements to improve vaccination coverage. During the weekend, the PAI began with the first 668 doses with the support and coordination of strategic allies such as the EAPB, social programs and some public entities such as the ICBF.
Vaccination: Let’s Get the Needles Rolling, Shall We?
Well, hold onto your hats, ladies and gentlemen, because it looks like Magdalena is in for quite the jab-fest! The Departmental PAI has officially kicked off its fifth extended day of national vaccination intensification, and they’re aiming to deliver a whopping 4,823 doses by the end of November. That’s right, folks—over 4,000 doses and counting! Who says numbers don’t matter? Well, clearly not when it comes to your health!
Now, imagine the scene: 107 vaccination points set up like a pop-up restaurant, but instead of gourmet food, they’re serving life-saving vaccines. It’s like a health revolution meets a buddy cop movie—except in this case, the heroes are the medical teams armed with syringes instead of sidearms, and the bad guys are preventable diseases. Spoiler alert: the heroes win, but only if you show up!
Rafael Martínez: Our Vaccinator-in-Chief
And there’s our fearless leader, Governor Rafael Martínez, orchestrating this extensive vaccination opera. With a mix of 62 extramural and 45 institutional points, it’s like a health origami project gone brilliant! They’re not just sitting back and waiting for you to waltz into a clinic; oh no, they’ve got teams going house to house. You can’t dodge a needle that easily!
21 types of biologicals—yes, you heard right! Diana Celedón, the Secretary of Departmental Health, is packing enough vaccines to make a pharmacist blush! Their mission? To combat 26 preventable diseases. It’s like Pokémon but with fewer Poké Balls and a lot more syringes. Gotta catch ‘em all—preferably before they catch you first!
Weather Naysayers Be Damned!
Now, let’s talk about dedication. Despite the dreadful weather caused by a wave of rain—no, not just a drizzle but a full-blown monsoon—these heroes of health didn’t flinch. The Secretary of Health declared, “Rain or shine, we’re getting shots in arms!” Talk about commitment! If only my umbrella was as dedicated! If only I had any commitment…
The current vaccination targets include children under six, teens from 9 to 17, women of childbearing age, any unsuspecting travelers (because nothing says “fun trip” like needing a vaccine before you go), and all kids born between January 1, 2009, to December 31, 2018. So basically, if you’re remotely within that age bracket, quarantine those giggles and line up!
A Real Shot in the Arm (Literally)
As part of this Departmental vaccination intensification extravaganza, they’re aiming for 4,823 doses of biological tracers administered to our youngest and most vulnerable. But here’s a plot twist—the weekend already kicked off with the first 668 doses administered. The PAI has shown up ready to go like pre-pumped adrenaline before a big race. They’ve even got strategic allies backing them up—all the essential programs and public entities getting in on the action. Everyone loves a good team-up!
So ladies and gentlemen, if you have a little one, know someone who’s pregnant, or are merely a fan of preventing diseases, now’s the time to consider doing your civic duty. Roll up your sleeves, dive into your nearest vaccination point, and remember: it’s not just a jab, it’s an investment in health. Because let’s face it, none of us wants to haggle with a preventable disease, right?
In a world where past the hype we’ve all seen how quickly we can turn into sardines in a can when it comes to hospitals, this vaccination drive is a welcome relief. So put on your best dose of humor, grab your friends, and head on out—Vaccination Nation is counting on you!
