The Department of Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities in Dubai confirmed that it has printed 80,000 copies of the Hijri calendar for the new year 1445, and it is prepared for distribution in the coming days, according to an approved plan.
Dr. Ali Hassan Al-Marzouqi, Director of the Research Department at the Islamic Affairs Sector, stated that the printing of the Hijri calendar began with the order of the late Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum, may God rest his soul, and then the calendar was printed continuously since that time, and it became a followed approach.
It is noteworthy that the Department of Times and New Moons in the Research Department, which includes specialized and experienced cadres, works throughout the year in preparing, editing and checking the Hijri calendar.
It also reviews and adjusts prayer times for mosques in Dubai and its suburbs, such as Hatta, Al-Habab, Al-Lusaily, Margham, Murqab, and Al-Faqaa.
It includes in the aspects of the calendar a set of rulings and sermons, the dates of religious and national events, and official holidays.
The Hijri calendar represents an Islamic identity, due to what it contains of the times of worship and the beginning of the Hijri months, as it presents a group of dates of interest to Muslims, such as the date of the beginning of the new Hijri year, the date of fasting on the day of Ashura, the date of the birth of the Prophet, the date of the first Ramadan, and the date of the first days of Eid. Al-Fitr and Al-Adha.
