DEPA Emporias invests in the first thermal power plant in Albania

The green light to a new major investment, which expands its activities DEPA Tradegave the company’s Board of Directors yesterday, approving its participation in its development first thermal power plant in Albania.

Specifically, DEPA will participate with a percentage 35% in the share capital of the company FIER THERMOELECTRIC SAwhich was founded in September 2022 by GEK TERNA and the Albanian GENER2, for the development of a natural gas power plant 174 MW in Relievi Roskovec, Albania. As part of its participation in the project, DEPA Emporias has signed a multi-year contract for the natural gas supply in the power plant.

This new unit will allow Albania to significantly reduce electricity imports and manage the country’s growing energy demand efficiently and more flexibly.

The CEO of DEPA Emporia, Konstantinos Xifarassaid: “DEPA Emporias is constantly expanding its activities as a modern, vertically integrated company, especially in the power generation sector. After the investments in photovoltaic projects with a total capacity of 815 MW, and our participation in the power plant in Alexandroupoli, with a capacity of 840 MW, we are entering a new market, that of Albania, participating in the first thermal power plant. DEPA Emporias is emerging as one of the most dynamically developing energy companies in Southeast Europe, consistently participating and undertaking initiatives that contribute to the region’s energy stability.”
