Xinhua News Agency, Copenhagen, January 28 (Reporter Lin Jing) The Danish delegation sent 62 athletes to the Beijing Winter Olympics this time. They will participate in ice hockey, curling, speed skating, biathlon and alpine skiing. The goal is a medal.

Denmark’s only medal hope comes from Viktor Thorup, who competes in the men’s speed skating group start event, who has been training in the United States and holds seven Danish national records. He finished fifth at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea.

Denmark and Nordic countries such as Norway, Sweden and Finland have a rich history and culture of ice and snow sports, but they lack mountains and good snow and ice conditions due to “innate conditions”.

Mick Sansone Jorgard, head of the Danish Winter Olympics delegation, said: “The qualification of the Danish athletes for the 2022 Winter Olympics is a testament to their ability. The mood is looking forward to this international sports event, and we can’t wait to prove ourselves in Beijing.”

For the Danish men’s and women’s ice hockey teams, which are ranked 12th and 11th in the International Ice Hockey League, it was their first appearance at the Winter Olympics. Among them, there are many outstanding players in the Danish men’s team who have experienced in the professional ice hockey leagues of the United States and Canada.
