The Head of State of Congo, Denis Sassou Nguesso, is making an official visit to Côte d’Ivoire from June 12 to 14, 2023, at the invitation of his Ivorian counterpart, Alassane Ouattara, as part of the strengthening of bilateral relations.
Sassou Nguesso is expected this Monday, June 12, 2023 at 2 p.m. (GMT, local time) at Félix Houphouët-Boigny International Airport in Abidjan, where, according to a note in State protocol, he should be welcomed by the Vice- President of the Republic and the Prime Minister.
An institutional meeting is scheduled for Monday at the Palace of the Presidency of the Republic, where the two countries will sign as part of the revitalization of the cooperation of bilateral agreements. It is planned, at 8 p.m., an official dinner in honor of President Sassou Nguesso.
On Tuesday, June 13, 2013, Denis Sassou Nguesso is expected in the Industrial Zone of Yopougon, in the West of Abidjan, at the CEMOI Factory, a cocoa processing unit. Côte d’Ivoire is also the world’s leading cocoa producer with 2.2 million tonnes.
In the afternoon, at 4 p.m., he will receive the keys to the city of Abidjan and the parchment of the honorary citizen, in the company of the Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Integration and diaspora of Côte d’Ivoire, Kandia Camara.
The Congolese president will travel, on Wednesday June 14, 2013, the third day of his visit, to Yamoussoukro, in the Ivorian political capital, for a laying of a wreath in the vault of the late President Félix Houphouët-Boigny, the first Ivorian head of state.
After his 72-hour stay, the President of the Republic of Congo, Denis Sassou Nguesso, will leave the country on Thursday June 15, 2023 at 4 p.m. During his visit, he will discuss with Alassane Ouattara issues of common interest related to regional and continental news.
