Denial of False Claims: Ministry of Interior Clarifies Incident in Assiut, Egypt

A security source denied the validity of what was reported in a video clip circulated on social media, during which a woman claimed that the security services had killed her husband and others in Assiut.

The source confirmed that the truth of the incident is that on the 15th of this month, two people intimidated the citizens and fired shots at a person on the public road in the Abu Tig Police Department in Assiut, killing him while they were riding a “Tuk Tuk” vehicle. They pass through the scene.

It was possible to identify the perpetrators of the incident and it was found that they were 4 highly dangerous criminal elements, and one of them was arrested in the fields adjacent to his residence in Bandar Sahel Salim, Assiut.
Investigations resulted in the rest of the accused hiding in a person’s residence in the Sadfa Police Station, and following legalizing the procedures, the aforementioned residence was targeted, and upon the arrival of the forces, the defendants fired heavy bullets.

The dealings resulted in the death of the highly dangerous criminal elements accused of committing the incident and 3 other criminal elements previously accused in cases of “firearms, gunfire, and drugs.” They were found in possession of (6 automatic rifles – tabanga – 28 safes – “485” rounds of different calibers. – 8 cartridges of hashish drug – a quantity of shabu drug – a quantity of drug “Tamol” tablets – the “tuk-tuk” vehicle used in the commission of the incident).

Legal measures were taken regarding the incident, and the Public Prosecution Office conducted the investigation.
