Dengue Fever Surge Brings Paraná to the Brink with Hundreds Infected

The State Department of Health (Sesa), through the State Coordination of Environmental Surveillance, published this Tuesday (08) the new weekly dengue report. A further 264 cases of the disease were recorded without any deaths in the last week. Adding the data from the new epidemiological period, which began on July 28, 2024, Paraná records 19,586 notifications and 2,460 confirmed cases, with no deaths.

In total, 339 municipalities have already reported the disease, which is transmitted by the Aedes aegypti mosquito, and 209 have confirmed cases.

Other arboviruses

Information about chikungunya and zika, diseases also transmitted by the Aedes aegypti mosquito, is contained in this same document. During this period, seven cases of chikungunya were confirmed, with 159 notifications of the disease recorded in the state. Regarding the Zika virus, there have been seven notifications so far.
