Austin aims to recover from medial collateral ligament repair in right elbow

DeNA announced today that it has signed pitchers Edwin Escobar, infielder Neftali Soto, and outfielder Tyler Austin to player contracts for the 2023 season.

Escobar pitched in 70 games, second in the league this season, with 34 holds and an ERA of 2.42. Soto, who has hit 40 home runs for two consecutive years since 2018, has played in 117 games this season, his fifth year in Japan, with a batting average of .266 and 17 home runs and 49 RBIs. Austin was limited to 38 games due to the injury and had surgery to repair the medial collateral ligament in his right elbow at a hospital in the United States in October.
